London:
The historical play “Milarepa,” based on a true story that reveals the profound meaning of human life, religion, sacrifice, struggle, and self-realization, is set to be presented in the United Kingdom. The performance will take place on Sunday, 8 March 2026, at 6:00 PM at the Princes Hall, Aldershot, in support of the charity activities of the Buddhist Community Centre (BCC) UK.
The play is based on the life story of the great yogi and poet Jetsun Milarepa, who was born in the Kyangtsa region along the Nepal–Tibet border. The central theme of the drama portrays his transformative journey—from a misguided youth involved in dark tantric practices to an enlightened practitioner who attained self-realization through rigorous spiritual discipline under the guidance of his guru, Marpa Lotsawa. The play powerfully and inspiringly conveys the message that transformation in human life is always possible.
This special presentation by Mandala Theatre Nepal is written by Chang Nyon Heruka and directed by Buddhi Tamang and Umesh Tamang. The cast includes powerful performances by Rupesh Lama, Ramila Moktan, Bikash Lama, among others. The production also features live traditional music with vocals by Ani Chöying Drolma, with musical arrangement by Sudip Khatiwada. According to the programme coordinator and Vice-President of BCC UK, Captain Dev Ghale, the performances will be filmed using advanced camera technology and presented on the large screen at Princes Hall on the day of the event.
Stating that the play is rich with essential teachings and rare wisdom deeply needed in modern life, and that it has already touched the hearts of many audiences, BCC UK President Ang Dawa Sherpa has informed the community that BCC UK has successfully brought this meaningful production to the UK through various means and has urged everyone not to miss this golden opportunity to watch the play.

The organizers believe that “Milarepa” is not only for followers of Buddhism but also for the general audience, as it offers a profound opportunity for self-reflection by presenting the truth of life, the essence of spirituality, and the path to liberation from greed, anger, and ego. Milarepa’s life of sacrifice, repentance, and intense spiritual practice is expected to inspire audiences to rethink their own lives.
Major Kumar Gurung, MVO, General Secretary of BCC UK, who has played a key role in coordinating with the directors to bring the play to the UK, has extended a heartfelt invitation to the entire Nepali community in the UK—including organizations, monasteries, temples, and lovers of art and culture—to come and watch this historic play that guides human life toward a positive direction.
